On the PC Casting Couch-Y:The Last Man-Part 3 (The Final Chapter!)

First off 355 kicks all sorts of ass- Canadian pop stars, a Ninja, a female penal colony, Amazons. You name it she’s kicked the shiz out if it. All you have to do is watch Naomie butcher the hell out of some zombies in 28 Days Later to see that she can handle herself quite nicely. [BTW: I can’t wait to see her in Ninja Assassin- That shiz looks crazy! And its got Korean pop star Rain! Seriously who could ask for more?]

I think Maggie will be more convincing as a scientist than say Bridget Moynahan in I, Robot but I’m really going on the recommendation simply for her work in the criminally under-rated Live Free or Die Hard. She proved that a woman decked out head-to-toe in Gucci *will” kick your ass. Dr.Mann’s daddy issues & Gucci stiletto boots=There *will* be blood!

Though Beth 1 is supposed to be Miss Blond haired-Blue eyed American Pie she spends most of the series on a walkabout in the Australian outback so it seems apt to me that she be played by an Aussie. And Emilie knows a thing or two about being in the great outdoors thanks to LOST.
Bonus: BKV connection!

On the PC Casting Couch-Y:The Last Man-Part 2 (Finally!)

To commemorate the end of Comic Con I'm going to FINALLY finish my casting of Y:The Last Man.
[Better late than never, right?]

Meet the Browns!Yorick=Topher
I really don’t need to elaborate. I mean seriously from looks to personality he’s the absolute best hands-down physical incarnation of Yorick.
Message to WB: Please god don’t let it be Shia! I don’t want to see Yorick being played by a formerly promising actor turned cocky-douchebag with an ever growing arrest record. If it really comes to that the movie should really take a page from the first issue and shoot itself in the head.

Hero’s a bitch with a healthy serving of crazy thrown in for good measure. So who’s better suited to play her than the woman who immortalized the words “I'm just one stomach flu away from my goal weight.” Not to mention if you’ve seen My Summer of Love then you know she’s quite capable of making someone switch sides.

Ah Beth 2! You know that she’s perfect for Yorick but in a compatible Facebook interests sort of way. But you know that you’re still rooting for 355 all the way. So whoever is worthy of donning Beth 2’s scar has to be intelligent, articulate, & funny. Rachel’s had her turn playing the intelligista in The Family Stone (oh hush! at least it had a great cast). And if you need to see her comedic credentials just look at Mean Girls. Seriously.

Countdown to WonderCon: Is Yorick Brown in town?

So I arrived today in San Francisco for WonderCon after taking pretty much every mode of transportation invented by man. BTW: San Fran is busting at the seams with Geeks since there is also a gaming developers conference in town. Needless to say I've overheard TONS of fascinating conversations. But I did manage to make it to Fishermans Wharf today and do some sightseeing (ie: taking a zillion pics of The Rock). Which is where I came across the straight-jacket and of course thought of dear (now) old Yorick. Ah I'm ready for the con to start! But till then some retail therapy in Union Square will have to do.

On the PC Casting Couch- Y:THE LAST MAN- Part 1

Y: The Last Man concluded last week with issue 60. And like any good fangirl I'm totally not over it. So I’m going to throw around my favorite celebs for the impending Y movie in a three part series.

You don’t fuck with loyal Israeli commando Alter. She will pop a cap in your ass whether you’re a judge court marshaling her or the most awesome secret agent ever. So consequently the actress playing Alter must also be fierce. Cue: Ms.Connelly. There’s a reason why Mr.Ghesquiere decks Jennifer out in Balenciaga toujours.

Agent 711 is no Dr.Phil. Her interventions involve a lot more whipping and a lot less clothes. La bella Bellucci is no stranger to corsets and whips. It comes with the territory for being a muse to Dolce & Gabbana for more than a decade. So in other words she’s absolutely perfect. And if there is anyone that can get you to confess your deepest secrets it’s going to be signorina Bellucci.

Well she is Russian. And she would totally satisfy a model trifecta with Jennifer and Monica. So why not?

Is Pushing Daisies trying to send a shout out to BKV???

Just got done watching this week's Pushing Daisies (which was funny, lovely, had a character named Manuel, and even had some singing by Cheno) and couldn't help but notice some similarities to the BKVerse.

The Coeur d'Coeurs movie theatre is playing the Frank Capra-Cary Grant classic Arsenic & Old Lace. For those of you who haven't read Runaways (First off, Shame on You!), runaway Gert inherits a telepathically controlled dinosaur (or whatever Barney looking animal it is) from her evil parents. When the kids decide to give themselves cool code names Gert chooses Arsenic and names her new pet, Old Lace. Being the TCM junkie that I am I truly love this movie reference.

Ned's partner Emerson Cod knits when he gets stressed. Just like our favorite Culper Ring agent, 355! In the past week since Chuck has been alive he's knitted two gun-cozies. A long-running joke in Y:The Last Man was that 355's knitting project was a gun cozy. It turned out to be a scarf for Yorick but I like to believe that maybe she had some leftover yarn and decided to make the gun cozy for herself, after all.
This show is definitely (by far) my favorite new show of the season!

I'd Tap That Fictional Ass!

The first fictional hottie (that we wish were real) is the Y in BKV’s Y:The last Man, Yorick Brown. He’s been hunted, attacked, jumped, disrobed, kidnapped, beaten, punched and heartbroken. The boy has been through the (Culper) ringer. So lets show him some love.

He’s very Pop-Cultured.
• As a slave of pop culture I must admit that I find it a necessary precondition for Hottie Certification. I started counting pop culture references in one issue and had to stop at 17 before giving up. From Judy Bloom to Kurt Vonnegut, Yorick does his English degree proud.

Yorick likes to have a laugh.
• Which is good for us because this Y-stinction would be pretty grim without it. You know with all the killing, starvation, heroin addiction, and Canadian pop-stars and all. He’s a normal guy in a completely insane situation using humor to try to cope with all the horrible sh%t happening around him. And that’s just hot.

Not that he’s all smiles…
• So he was suicidal. With 711’s help he got over it and found out something important in the process. Pretty good for a guy without Zoloft or Malibu.

He’s no angel…
• Even though he wasn’t faithful to Beth during their time apart I won’t hold it against him. So he’s kissed a couple of gals other than his girlfriend since he became the last boy but things didn’t end too well for them (read: death). Plus Beth is a bitch. And Beth 2 is way cooler (though less than 355, of course!).

Yorick: The Last GQ
• Yorick’s hair is shaggy. But definitely not shaggy in a Mystery Machine sort of way but more like an hour in the bathroom with some Bumble & Bumble Sumo Tech. (But I guess with all the gay men dead a lot it must be readily available.) • He does like to wear T-shirts, jeans, hoodies and (what appear to be) chinos. So there must be a GAP somewhere in the unmanned world.
Yorick has managed to reach the pinnacle of fashion with the parka that he’s been donning in the last couple of issues. I live in Vancouver, so I’ve grown to love parkas. So I thank Pia a million times over for keeping it real with Yorick.

Note: There was a manga eye situation half way through the run but all is good now.
Who I’d cast in the movie- Topher Grace
Y? Because he’s funny, smart, & hot (oh & btw BKV’s first choice too!)

Though the end of Y:The Last Man is near, it will never be the end of Yorick’s hotness.

Alas Yorick, you’re a Fictional Hottie.
