I’ll Be Filing for MALpractice

I love Nathan Fillion. I’m just going to get that out of the way first. Tonight was Nathan Fillion’s first episode on Desperate Housewives and I’m glad that I’ll be getting to see him on a weekly basis (without fear of cancellation). Somehow Mr.Fillion has managed to corner the ‘charming and handsome gynecologist’ market in Hollywood with his roles in Waitress & DH. But I guess that's what Joss saw in him, a man that women will gladly get onto stirrups for.

BTW: I must add that Nathan looks 15 since the show is filmed in heavy fog to mask Teri & Crew’s wrinkles & crows’ feet.

Pop Culture Case Study: Music Men make the best Superheroes

This ongoing series is going to look at the correlation between being a song and dance man and a fantastic movie comic book hero. Am I just a musical nut who also loves comic books and is trying to bring both beautiful worlds together? Absolutely! But I’ll let you see the connection for yourself.

Part 1: Christian Bale - Bruce Wayne/Batman

• Bale’s Batman was born out of the pages of the best (ie=darker) Batman comic books. He’s just as noir as can be. Thankfully that just happens to be my ideal Batman-smart, angsty, but still charming with a dash of dry-wit.

• If you haven’t seen Newsies at least a dozen times drop everything buy the DVD and prepared to get enlightened. I mean if you don’t cry when he sings “Santa Fe” I’ll personally come and punch you in the gut until the streams of pure musical joy come out of your eye ducts. Yes, it’s that fantastic!

Newsies was directed/choreographed by Kenny Ortega. Now if you don’t know who he is be prepared to look 10 years younger (and wiser)……….He’s also the Emmy winning director of Disney’s insanely popular High School Musical and its sequel…..High School Musical…..wait for it…..2!!!!!

Wayyyyyyy more helpful than Nemisis

Joss didn't get to do his version of Wonder Woman (but I pray everyday that DC will get smart and try to convince him to do a run. God knows that WW needs it after the less than thrilling Picoult run. Plus DC could use the sales since we all know the equation JOSS=GOLD!!! But I digress) but I know that she would have kicked a lot of ass while being perfectly styled.

Fantastic Four: Isla De La Muerte #1
Writer: Tom Beland
Art: Juan Doe
Out: December 26, 2007

I'm wondering if Marvel is going to use this to retcon Sue Storm into being Latina so that they can get Jessica Alba out of those blue contacts that freak me (and the rest of the world) out.
Tom's regular gig, True Story Swear to God , also stars Puerto Rico. Plus it's so fantastic (pun intended) that you should run and get it, like now.

Another Blondie Bear down Davie????

James Marsters back on Smallville?!?!?!? YES!!!!
I'm sooo excited not only because I love watching James on TV (as opposed to direct-to-DVD movies) but because it'll bring him back to Vancouver. Let the stalking commence!!!!
*End of extreme fangirlyness*

You’ll be a better person if…..

This is where I become your pop-culture Yoda leading you away from the Bad (HEROES) and into the Good.

You Watched: Torchwood
• John Barrowman is the shit and if you don’t believe me get yourself learned and watch CPW (or as laymen call it: Central Park West)

• Its got a lot of sex for a sci-fi show. So ya of course there is some inter-species copulating for our enjoyment. But who hasn’t had a fling with a time traveler PLUS how can you not religiously TiVo a show with an even alien encounter to booty call ratio???

• At the very least you get to see the beautiful capital city of Wales, Cardiff. Which is where they speak Welsh. And yes Welsh is a real language.

• Oh and next season is going to feature a guestage by James Marsters. Do Captain Jack and James Marsters get it on? OF COURSE!!! You are now free to write some fan-fic.

Resident Evil: (PORE) EXTINCTION!

The scariest thing about Resident Evil: Extinction was not the infected zombies, Umbrella Corp, or even the acting ( Go, ASHANTI & Ali!!!!) but the extinction of Milla’s pores!!!!! Hey if the price I have to pay for poreless skin is to be experimented on by some evil corporation bent on destruction causing me to be disoriented and confused every 15 minutes then I say “Where do I sign up?” Why? Because I’m Worth It!!!!!!!

What a girl wants (is to kill some zombies)

Resident Evil: Extinction was the # 1 movie this weekend so big props to Milla, Ali, & (even) Ashanti.

Why this is awesome:
• It made more money than Let’s build a movie around Jessica Alba being naked and/or in her underwear (aka: Good Luck Chuck-but actually it goes for every movie she’s ever done. Fantastic Four, Into the Blue, & Sin City. Also of note: She had no movies released in 2006. The girl isn’t Diane Keaton or Jodie Foster so she can’t even call it a sabbatical. But I digress.)

• Soon-to-be-Mama Milla-While Milla is killing zombies all Buffy-style I’d say she’s definitely channeling more of a Linda Carter/Sarah Connor shoot ‘em up-style. Plus (SPOILER) she’s somehow acquired some serious Jean Grey Phoenix-caliber telepathy. So in one word: AWESOME! Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

• Cuz I’m a BOSS! -Ali Larter is the leader of the only survivors of the infection (actually they just looked like they’d survived Thunderdome). Just like one of her Heroes counterparts her name is Claire but I won’t hold that completely against her. She also kept it real by not retouching her lip gloss after every scene. Unlike Milla but hey it’s her movie (and she probably has a pesky contractional obligation to L’Oréal).[BTW: This color is effing beautiful. Take that Eva & Scarlett!!!]

So yeah she’s wearing short-shorts the entire movie but it fits the desert setting (plus its from her rockin’ line, Jovovich-Hawk).

*I’m not as learned in the mythology of Resident Evil like some people (cough cough) so please forgive me for any inaccuracies.
